2nd Centre’s semminar

On November 14, the Center will host its second scientific seminar devoted to the non-obvious topic of legal protection of animals in ancient Rome.

Did the Romans protect animals? Was it purely functional protection? Why is it (not) an anachronism to talk about animal protection before late modern times? Who wanted to give rights to species other than humans two thousand years ago?

These and other questions will be answered by our guest, Zuzanna Benincasa (Ph.D. hab., prof. UW) – a scientist from our Faculty of Law and Administration, UW, and the author of a book devoted to the status of free-living animals in Roman legal doctrine.

November 14 6:30 PM
room 115 CI I
