We are pleased to announce that on April 2–3, 2027, the Centre for Legal Protection of Animals & Nature at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Law and Administration and the FEWD Research Centre – originally founded 2002 at the University of Vienna’s Faculty of Philosophy – will co-organize an interdisciplinary academic seminar as part of the EAAW series. The event will focus on animal protection in Central Europe, with particular emphasis on Poland. Participants will include researchers from various faculties of the University of Vienna, members of our Centre, and invited guests.
We are pleased to announce that Professor Zuzanna Benincasa (University of Warsaw), Dr. Paweł Pasieka (SGGW), and Dr. Paweł Banaś (University of Warsaw) have confirmed their participation in the seminar.
Additionally, dr. hab. Cezary Błaszczyk —who will be completing a research fellowship at the University of Vienna in the spring of 2027 —will deliver a lecture as part of FEWD’s “Vienna Animal Advocacy Lecture” series. His talk will address the concept of “animal law” (distinguishing it from “animal protection law” and “animal rights law”).
FEWD (Forschungsstelle für Ethik und Wissenschaft im Dialog / Research Centre for Ethics and Science in Dialogue was founded by Prof. Dr. Peter Kampits, the former dean of the Faculty of Philosophy. Now led by Prof. Dr. Gary Steiner, Prof. Dr. Rudolf Winelmayer, and Mag. Erwin Lengauer (the coordinator of the planned seminar).
